As a full disclosure, it's important to note that we are a Salesforce Consulting agency, and while we have no affiliation with Salesforce, it is our primary area of expertise. In the early stages of our agency, we utilized the free version of Hubspot CRM, and we have extensive experience implementing and managing Hubspot. We have since transitioned from Hubspot to Salesforce for our agency's CRM needs. Our goal is to objectively analyze the differences between these two CRMs, based on our experience and expertise with both platforms.
CRM software has become an essential tool for businesses of all sizes. Whether you're a small business owner or a large enterprise, having a tool to manage customer interactions, sales, and marketing efforts is critical to driving growth and improving customer satisfaction.
Hubspot and Salesforce are two of the most popular CRMs today. Both offer robust feature sets, easy-to-use interfaces, and integrations with other tools and systems. However, there are some key differences between the two that businesses should be aware of when deciding which one to use.
Historically, Hubspot has been the less expensive option and a great starting point for small businesses looking to set up a basic CRM. It's easy to set up and has some excellent core functionality. On the other hand, Salesforce has historically been known as an enterprise tool, being too expensive for SMBs to get value out of it. This, however, has changed.
Hubspot vs. Salesforce: Features
Hubspot offers a range of features, including lead management, contact management, email marketing, social media management, and analytics. The platform is designed to be easy to use, with a simple interface and drag-and-drop functionality. Hubspot offers a range of integrations with other tools and systems, making it a viable option for businesses getting started.
Salesforce also offers a range of features, including sales automation, marketing automation, customer service, and analytics (and more but we'll focus on the most common). The platform is highly customizable, with a range of modules and tools that can be added to meet the specific needs of your business. Salesforce offers a wide range of integrations with other tools and systems, appealing to businesses that need a high degree of customization and flexibility.
Hubspot vs. Salesforce: Pricing
Historically, Hubspot has been the less expensive option, with pricing starting at $50 per user per month for the Starter package, which includes basic CRM functionality, email marketing, and social media management. The Professional and Enterprise packages offer more advanced features, such as marketing automation and custom reporting, and are priced at $800 and $3,200 per month, respectively.
Salesforce has always been seen as an enterprise tool. Now they've added a "Salesforce Lite" (better known as Salesforce Essentials) with pricing starting at $25 per user per month for the Essentials package, which includes basic CRM functionality and mobile access - Note: while email marketing and other features found in Hubspot are not standard in this package, they can be connected via a connector like Zapier. The Professional and Enterprise packages offer more advanced features, such as sales automation and customer service, and are priced at $75 and $150 per user per month, respectively.
Hubspot vs. Salesforce: Customization
One of the key strengths of Salesforce is its high degree of customization. The platform offers a wide range of modules and tools that can be added to meet the specific needs of your business. This can be particularly valuable for businesses with complex sales processes, multiple products or services, or a large customer base.
Hubspot is designed to be a more turnkey solution, with a focus on ease of use and out-of-the-box functionality. While the platform does offer some degree of customization, it may not be as robust as what is available with Salesforce.
Both Hubspot and Salesforce offer powerful CRM solutions for businesses of all sizes. Hubspot is a great option for small businesses starting out that need a simple, easy-to-use CRM system. Salesforce is a more comprehensive solution that offers a high degree of customization and flexibility, making it an excellent choice for businesses with complex sales processes or a large customer base.
When it comes down to it, the choice between Hubspot and Salesforce will depend on your specific business needs, budget, and goals.
